UAE closes Iranian-linked facilities in Dubai amid rising tensions
The United Arab Emirates has closed Iranian-linked facilities in Dubai amid escalating tensions with Iran. The Iranian hospital, which opened in 1972 under the Shah, was shut down on Friday, with its website taken down and phone number disconnected. While the hospital provided affordable medical care for decades, it had been linked to Iranian intelligence operations, including an incident involving a Dubai police officer who allegedly spied in exchange for cheaper healthcare for his daughter. According to the Financial Times, an anonymous Emirati government official stated that institutions directly linked to Iran would be closed after being misused to advance agendas that do not serve the Iranian people and violate UAE laws. The Iranian club in Bar Dubai also announced its closure on Instagram, citing the current circumstances. The closures come as the UAE has been repeatedly targeted by Iranian fire.
