more than 32,000 private sector employees received Dh289 million in unpaid wages and gratuities through a government insurance scheme. the workers protection programme offers up to Dh20,000 cover when employers fail to pay wages, end-of-service benefits or other entitlements. ninety-nine per cent of private sector workers are covered, with average payouts exceeding Dh9,000.
